The Man Behind the Chalk Circle: Felix Morelo
Felix Morelo, a Colombian-American artist currently residing in Glendale, Queens, New York, is a versatile creator involved in various artistic mediums such as painting, sculpture, printmaking, bookmaking, performance, and street art. Morelo has garnered recognition for his distinctive chalk-drawn circles, with the "Good Luck" and "Bad Luck" circles standing out as his most notable creations. He also tends to create additional circles, including the "Hugging Spot," "Kissing Spot," and more, each adding a unique touch to the areas he draws in. He most notably chalks up in downtown Manhattan, as a lot of his work can be found around Washington Square Park, Astor Place, etc.
The genesis of Morelo's chalk circle series can be traced back to the pandemic, a period during which these artistic expressions took on additional significance. With over a decade of artistic experience, Morelo has established himself as a prominent figure in the New York art scene. His chalk artwork has found a place in numerous galleries across the city, including Lehman College, Blackburn Printshop, BRIC Rotunda Gallery, Howl Happening, and AAA3A Gallery.
